Jim Wilcox Award for 2007
Safety Person of the Year
Applications Available
It's time to start thinking of nominating your best candidate for the
New Mexico Safety Person of the Year. The prestigious award covers safety
activities from 1/1/07 to 12/31/07. Here are the award rules:
1. The candidate for “Safety Person of the Year” must be
actively involved in the loss prevention program and safety activities
of a “for hire” or “private carrier” truck fleet.
This will include safety directors, safety supervisors, and/or persons
responsible for this duty.
2. The candidate must reside or service terminals in New Mexico.
3. The candidate must have been employed by the same employer for one
year prior to the New Mexico Trucking Association Annual Awards Banquet.
4. Employer for whom the candidate is employed must be a member of the
New Mexico Trucking Association.
5. Candidate will be selected on his/her accomplishments for the contest
year only. The contest year will be from January 1 through December 31
of the year preceding the New Mexico Trucking Association meeting.
6. The winning candidate shall be selected by a committee sanctioned by the New Mexico Trucking Association.
2008 Truck Driving Championships
This year they will be held
on Saturday, May 3rd at CWX-CON WAY Western, at 12600 Central Ave., S.W.
Albuquerque. Click below for the appropriate entry forms. Both
must be completed and sent to NMTA prior to the event.
TDC Driver Entry Form
Driver shoulder patches for participating drivers are available for distribution as of April 21. Also the FACT BOOK FOR DRIVERS is already available from the Association Office.
The 2007 Driver of the Year will be announced from among the drivers of the month (listed below) at the upcoming awards banquet.

Truck Convoy for Special Olympics
This 2007 fall event was sponsored by SMC. Trucks from various carriers participate in a "Convoy" to show support for Special Olympics. Proceeds & donations go to the NM Special Olympics.
CNM Truck Driving Program
The Central New Mexico Community College offers a full curriculum
on Truck Driving Training and is a significant source of new
drivers for the New Mexico industry. CNM is always looking
for increased industry support and has Advisory
Committee with periodic meetings. Check with CNM for details.
